I read a few reviews before this film came out and they were all wrong. It's a nice take on the cartoon. I wouldn't change it for some cheesy 80's perm and spandex flick. This movie feels like its messages come from the heart. The actresses were all excellent. Their outfits were all cool and respectable looking. Back in the day, I watched the Jem and the Holograms cartoons with my younger sister, they were on after my G.I.Joe and Thunder cats. Yesterday, decades later, I went to see it with my young daughter. She loved it, wants it on DVD and I was pleasantly surprised at the emotion and acting conveyed to the audience. I give it a 10, for all those premature whiners out there, who judged this movie from the very first trailer. Quality family entertainment.

Without any new or unusual plot in his female centred action flick debutant director Stephen Campanelli has not succeeded.

Myself tired on hearing 'One last mission', 'Find the secrets behind the mystery', 'where is the ____?' in action thrillers.

Entire movie revolves between Olga (protagonist) & James Purefoy (antagonist). Torture scenes lead by James Purefoy shown him as a powerful villain. Former Bond girl Olga is not bad in action.

Another keyword in the cast is Morgan Freeman. His presence as senator doesn't make any difference to me. Repeated story deflates the entire movie. 

Overall you can spend 90mins if you love to watch ladies in action, others please don't waste your time.

A feel-good Cold War melodrama, Bridge of Spies is an absorbing true-life espionage tale very smoothly handled by old pros who know what they're doing. In its grown-up seriousness and basis in historical conflict, Steven Spielberg's first feature since Lincoln three years ago joins the list of the director's half-dozen previous "war" films, but in its honoring of an American civilian who pulled off a smooth prisoner exchange between the East and West during a very tense period, the film generates an unmistakable nostalgia for a time when global conflict seemed more clear-cut and manageable than it does now. Spielberg's fourth collaboration with Tom Hanks, which world- premiered at the New York Film Festival and opens commercially on October 16, looks to generate stout box-office returns for Disney through the autumn season. For people of Spielberg's generation, the early years of the nuclear era and the stand-off between the United States and the Soviet Union represents a significant part of the fabric of childhood. With the passage of time, it's possible to tell stories of the time without furnishing them with overt propagandistic overlays, and for Westerners there is the added built-in appeal of the "we won" factor and the perception that dealing with adversaries was so much simpler then than it is now. As their focus in this impeccably rendered recreation of a moment in history, most palpably represented by the building of the Berlin Wall, Spielberg and screenwriters Matt Char man and Ethan and Joel Coen have chosen a sort-of Atticus Finch of the north, a principled, American Every man insurance attorney unexpectedly paged to represent a high-level Soviet spy caught in New York. There is no question that Rudolf Abel (Mark Rylance) is guilty, but James B. Donovan (Hanks), a proper and decent family man with a professional dedication to his client and an abiding loyalty to the principles of the U.S. Constitution, has a quick and intuitive read of any legal situation and shrewdly stays at least one step ahead of the game in almost any situation.

The Final Girls may appear to be another stupid campy horror spoof a la Scary Movie but rest assured, it's not. It's most comparable to The Cabin in the Woods, but while that movie deconstructed horror as a whole, The Final Girls' focus is specifically on slashers. It's about a slasher movie star and her daughter who get into a fatal car accident. The daughter survives and years later, her and her friends go to see the slasher movie her mother starred in, then something happens in the theater and somehow the group ends up in the film they were watching. It may sound dumb but all disbelief can easily be suspended due to the smooth transitions, clever dialogue, great acting, and characters you actually care about.

Once they enter the "movie" world, it's simply a blast to watch. Slasher tropes are pointed out, made fun of, and even implemented well when necessary. The virgin girl is the only one who can kill the killer and it must be with his own machete. Sound familiar? Also, anyone who has sex ends up getting killed. Yeah, it's Friday the 13th all over again, except with a new cast. Every character has a personality and has their place in the movie. There's the jock douche, the slutty space cadet, the innocent shy girl, the hipster, you name it. They all work perfectly together, and it's hard to single out one actor as a highlight because the acting throughout is highly impressive for a horror movie. Mainly the two female leads (Max and her mom) have tangible chemistry and some truly heartfelt moments.

So is The Final Girls scary? Not exactly, but does have some badass shots like the killer jumping out of a window in slo-mo while he and his machete are on fire, and someone actually dies by falling face first into a bear trap. Ouch. More importantly though, The Final Girls is funny without being dumb. It's clever humor, and it works around the plot so you have fun while being totally invested in the story. The most surprising thing about this movie is the amount of heart it has. Rarely do tearful personal conversations work in slashers, but here they make up some of the most powerful scenes. 

Simply put, The Final Girls is an adventure, and for any meta-horror comedy fans, it's one you should not miss.
